Garam Masala - The King of Spices
Garam Masala is an exotic, fragrant and delicious blend of roasted whole spices. The spice is carefully stored in airtight jars or tins to maintain its freshness and flavor. In Urdu, the national language of Pakistan and my native language, ‘garam’ means hot and ‘masala’ means spices. Most cooks and food lovers of spicy food have their own concoction, somewhere from five to thirteen different spices are used to create this delightful combination. Personally, I think that preparing any meat dish without garam masala is a culinary crime in itself.
White Jasmine Garam Masala is a combination of five fragrant, flavorful spices; cinnamon, cloves, coriander, cumin and black peppercorns, it is the best garam masala you will ever try. This combination of roasted spices adds a robust and delectable flavor to any dish, especially meat dishes. All our spices are natural and kosher; they are carefully selected and known for their flavor and freshness. I am a firm believer of the fact that only fresh and powerful ingredients can create a wholesome culinary experience.
Many years ago when we first moved to United States, I was intrigued by Hamburger Helper, a whole dried meal in a box…….quite fascinating! Believe it or not, even Hamburger Helper meals start to taste bearable after adding a bit of garam masala, garlic, ginger and cilantro. Having said that, I would not recommend preparing a meal from a box unless there is an emergency.
One of my favorite American foods is a hamburger. However, my hamburgers taste a little bit different from traditional American hamburgers because I like to add garam masala, tons of fresh cilantro, chopped green onions and garlic in addition to chili powder, whole cumin, salt, barbecue sauce and olive oil to the ground beef. Attached is the recipe for spicy hamburgers, enjoy!

Spicy Hamburgers
2 pounds ground beef (Can substitute turkey or ground lamb)
2 teaspoons garam masala
1 teaspoon chili powder
1 teaspoon whole cumin
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon chopped garlic
2 cups fresh chopped cilantro
1 cup fresh chopped green onions
2 tablespoons barbecue sauce
1 tablespoon olive oil

8 hamburger buns
1 medium sliced red onion
2 sliced tomatoes
Few leaves of iceberg lettuce

Add all of the ten ingredients in a big bowl and mix thoroughly. Make 8 patties and place on heated grill. When both sides are well done, serve on hamburger buns with slices of red onions, tomatoes and lettuce and fries or potato salad on the side.
Note: Try adding Tabasco, salsa or any other hot sauce instead of tomato ketchup.
