Recipes from Everyday Cooking Matar Pulao 2 cups uncooked basmati rice1 tablespoon cooking oil 2 cloves 1 large cardamom 1 small cardamom 1 bay leaf 1 2 inch cinnamon stick 1 cup frozen peas ½ teaspoon salt ½ teaspoon turmeric Rinse rice gently. Heat oil in a saucepan, add cloves, cardamoms, cinnamon stick and bay leaf. Let it sizzle for a minute. Add green peas, turmeric and salt. Add rice and 3 cups of water. Let it come to a boil and then reduce heat and leave to simmer for 15-20 minutes. Serve with meat or vegetable curry.
