Second Place:

A neighbor made these brownies for us, and we really liked them. I have been making them ever since (about thirty years). Not only my kids, but my grand kids say that they are their favorite brownies ever! When they are warm, a scoop of vanilla ice cream makes them even better. Hope that you enjoy them as much as we do.

2 eggs
1 cup sugar
1/2 cup melted butter
2 squares melted bitter chocolate
3/4 cup sifted flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 cup chopped pecans
1 teaspoon vanilla

This brownie recipe has been a family favorite since I started to make them about 20 years ago for my daughters school treat. We call them John's Favorite Brownies because my Step-Father, John loves them so much. I always make them when we get together and make sure to make him a double batch before he and my mom leave to go south for the winter. These brownies freeze well and can also be made using a all peanut butter chips or a combination of chocolate and peanut butter chips. Recipe can be doubled to make a 13 x 9 size pan of thicker brownies.

John's Favorite Brownies

3/4 Cup Flour
1/4 Teaspoon Baking Soda
1/4 Teaspoon Salt
1/3 Cup Butter
3/4 Cup Sugar
2 Tabelspoons Water
2 Cups Chocolate Chips
1 Teaspoon Vanilla
2 Eggs

Mix together in small bowl and set aside
3/4 Cup Flour
1/4 Teaspoon Baking soda
1/4 Teaspoon Salt

Combine in small saucepan and bring just to boil
1/3 Cup Butter
